Iran - Facts and Figures

Pars Fund

Pars Fund Limited is a closed end investment fund dedicated to Iran. The Fund is setup as a limited partnership managed by individuals with unique experiences that should allow the Fund to fully benefit from the exceptional investment opportunities opening up in Iran.

Iran has gone through a difficult period since the Revolution in 1979. Political upheavals and subsequent governmental shortcomings, a devastating eight year war with Iraq (1980-88) and U.S.  sanctions have all affected economic performance. Until recently private enterprise was restricted and foreign direct investment ,except for specific oil and gas projects , was virtually non-existent.

The General Partner believes that partly due to the above factors Iran, despite the risks, presents one of the world's most profitable investment environments, for the next five years.

The country has a young, well educated population and is rich in natural resources: oil, minerals, agriculture and the world's second largest gas reserves. A pre -1979 manufacturing base needs redevelopment  and the private sector can now actively fund projects in the rapidly expanding and highly economical petrochemical industry. Mining and agriculture have lacked serious non- governmental finance and the renewed interest in allowing private enterprise in these fields will benefit all concerned.

Financial services, until recently mostly state owned, are ripe for development. Iran is home to one of the world's major cultures but due to episodic official support and shortcomings in facilities tourism has not begun to reach its potential.

Iran has underdeveloped potential and the government has finally grasped the logic that less control means higher growth, indeed all political parties advocate greater privatizations and welcome for domestic, émigré and foreign investors.

The U.S. presence in neighboring Afghanistan and Iraq, and the subsequent regional upheavals, requires a Fundamental shift in twenty-five year confrontational Iran-U.S. relationship, both side s are coming to the realization that economic and political settlement of the region.

Iran is poised to be at the center of a Middle East- Central Asian economic revival fuelled by abundant energy reserves, and political regeneration.

The Fund thus intends to take advantage of this new climate. By combining a professional approach to investment management and risk control with intimate knowledge of local conditions the General Partner expects to be able to archive substantial returns.
